How to: Mini Pot Plant Wedding Favours for Your Guests

Potted plants make a lovely decor addition to your wedding and also help with reducing the use of cut flowers that usually end up going to waste.

There are lots of ways to use plants in your wedding decor theme.

Ways to use mini plants as decor for your wedding:

  1. Place names for your wedding guests

  2. Signage for tables such as cake tables or guest book tables

  3. Wedding favours - you could have a wedding favour table with all of your plants for your guests

  4. Place names that double as wedding favours. Two for one!

Where do I buy mini house plants and succulents for my wedding?

Garden centres are generally your best bet - but make sure they have a house plant section. I picked some up from my local garden centre (Grosvenor Garden Centre) in Chester and mixed and matched them for 3 for £8. You can also find succulents on Etsy which you can buy in bulk from lots of lovely sellers.

Choose decorative pots to match your wedding day colour and design theme

Some plant pot design options to match your wedding theme could be…

  1. Country wild garden: small orange terracotta pots (select size ‘S’)

  2. Modern mid century: painted terracotta pots - grab your wedding party and get painting!

  3. Boho: earthy ceramic patterned pots

  4. Crisp & classic: white and pale wood pots

Decorate the top of your soil with pea shingle or small stones for extra detail.

where do I buy plant wedding favours?

I would recommend choosing a mixture of plants to give an eclectic feel to your decor and add lots of texture. Guests will find it exciting to see which plant you have chosen for them! Some plants that work well and are beautiful are:

  • Aloe Vera

  • Money Plants

  • Sempervivums

  • Fittonia

  • Cacti

  • Tradescantia

IKEA usually has an amazing selection of little house plants like these or these

Or you could pop over to Etsy which has lots of lovely sellers who sell miniature succulents and smaller plants

I would also recommend checking out your local garden centre with a houseplant section - for my own wedding we sourced them from Grosvenor Garden Centre in Chester

Where can I get decorative tags for my plants?

You’re in the right place! I create plant tags for weddings, which you can shop here.

When should I order my plants?

I’d recommend scouting out places to buy your plants a month or two before your wedding and then buying and potting them 2-3 weeks before the day

Remembering to water your plants in the mean time!

Make sure not to put your plant tags into the pots until the day or two before your wedding so that you don’t get them wet when you water your plants - I learned this the hard way!

Keep your plants in a bright spot with indirect sunlight in your house as to keep them happy and healthy while you wait for your big day to arrive.
